Picocell
Percello's cascaded SoC solution enables equipment vendors to deliver low-cost Picocells for a wide variety of applications. Percello's solution drives down costs, adds capacity and extends coverage in the most challenging indoor and outdoor environments, such as high-traffic business parks, high rise and multi-tenant buildings, and underground parking lots and basements.
Percello's low-cost PRC6500 SOC, which supports 16 users while delivering HSPA+ data rates of 21.6/5.76 Mbps, meets the demands of the high-capacity Picocell market. At the same time, its low-power consumption eliminates the need for heatsink/airflow.
Percello's unique ability to cascade multiple PRC6500 chips provides the flexibility and scalability to manufacture equipment that can support different number of users, while reusing the same technological concept, manufacturing infrastructure and components.
Various cascading options exist to meet different Picocell requirements:
- Extending the number of users - Cascading the PRC6500 devices increase the number of users by 16 for each added PRC6500 device. The diagram above illustrates an example of a 32-user Picocell, based on a single RF chain and maximum HSPA+ data rate/user of 21/5.76 Mbps.
- Accelerating data rates per user - This option utilizes MIMO technology and two RF chains to double the maximum data rate per user to 42 Mbps using HSPA++ or DC-HSPA. Cascaded PRC6500 chips support 32 users in this example.
